1st SWIM! and Yakada Yaddaaaaaa.....

26 May Saturday.

Jovann just had his first swim! and goodness, how he enjoyed it. He was all smiles and chuckles and gibbering away at top speed to himself in the yellow baby float. I think he was hungry too, coz he kept trying to lick the float. he splashed and bounced and kicked the water so hard his face was all splattered with water droplets. Hope the water's clean!

His 1st swim buddies, or rather, swim girl friends.... Baby Clare and Baby Trinity, both of whom are pros in the pool already. :)

His friend Trinity and her Mommy. :)

1st time I bathe for him fully standing up in the shower. Quite a slippery job but very bonding. :) Love it very much. But he couldn't keep still especially when I had to put on my own clothes. He enjoyed the shower very much, but when he came out he was grouchy when we tried to apply baby lotion for him on tne pool lounge chair. But then I whipped out my magic wand, which immediately quietens him once it goes inside his ear! hehehe.

Later on, Trinity and Jovann met up with Arianne, Sophie and Amabel at Borders Bistro where their parents had some chow.

WE ARE THE OGREEEE babies.....

Jovann and Arianne soon got bored of their parents conversation, and decided to have one themselves. Arianne's mommy said they sounded like old husband and wife quarrelling..... it was a hilarious moment and if the video is shaking too much its coz Arianne's daddy was shaking with laughter when he took the video.

Happy 8 Months!

Jovann is 8mths Old!

Happy 8mths my dear Jovann. Now I really feel how time flies. Just a while ago you were just a tiny newborn who does nothing much but cry, drink milk and sleep. But now, you are a bouncing, active, noisy, curious 8mths old who loves to laugh, play peekaboo, smile at strangers.

Yes, you love to smile at strangers. You will study them for a while, and if they look your way, you may start with a slow hesitant smile, then starts to chuckle if they play with you. We notice you like to look at pretty little girls too! on your 8mths, we brought you to Fajar to have dinner with Ah Gong Ah Ma, and when mommy is carrying you and walking from Shop and Save, Ah Ma tried to play with you but you kept avoiding her gaze coz you were concentrating hard on something behind her shoulder. we turned to look and saw a pretty little girl around 2-3yrs old, who seemed flattered by your attention. You were staring so rudely! She came forward a bit and pretend to wana grab your hand. That got you so excited you started making noise and moving your limbs as if you wanna get down on the floor and play with her, and you were going "Aaaaaa...Aaa...." loudly. This happened a few times. The girl, after getting bored of a baby boy who does nothing but "aaaaaaahhhh...", ran off to tug at her mother's sleeve. We need to walk past her to get back to the coffee shop, and wonder if you eyes will zoom in on her again. and you did! Right before we passed by her you turn you head and spotted her and you stared and stared again. Heheheee.... you sure know how to appreciate pretty things don't you? So hiao leh you.

You hate being put lying down to change diapers now. Many times, you will scream your lungs out and Mommy has now become quite fluent in changing your clothes and even wearing your diapers with one hand while the other supports you in a standing position. The Nepia Pull ups that Daddy accidentally bought also comes in handy now.

You love to play peekaboo now. It can calm you down when you cranky, make you smile when you are sleepy. You never seem to get tired of it. and now you love to pull the hanky or pillow off our faces instead of us doing it ourselves.

Mommy also gave you your 1st haircut the day after your 8mths birthday. Its Mommy's first time being a hairstylist, and it feels both weird and yet satisfying. At least you don't look like you just had your hair cut from an upside down bowl. But I must say the most flattering comment was when Auntie Ling and Auntie Angeline asked me which hairstylist did I bring you too! hehehe, they said the haircut looks nice. :P

Mommy, pls don't cut my ears....

You also developed this cute habit of suddenly leaning your head on one side, either on your highchair, your leapfrog toy or on our shoulder. its very "yang orh" looking, and love the way you look when you do that.

You also like to play with your hands, twisting your wrist this way and that, staring at it so intently all the while when doing it. Sometimes it looks like some hand movement in a dance routine, sometimes it looks like you trying out some kungfu moves in a huang fei hong movie, sometimes just plain adorable.

Now, with such a nice haircut, of course must show off right? We also finally got down to taking a photo of you to put into your PASSPORT! but we truly and totally underestimated how difficult it is to take a decent passport photo of a 8mth old babY! Figuring that you like to smile so much, we thought getting a good shot will be a cinch! How wrong we were! We got these kinda shots...

or this....

or your mouth just look too big when laughing....

and...finally, some decent ones. can pass a not huh?

A stylo milo one.

Okie, we are done. changed you back to rompers. your stinko face says it all.... "Are you done or not guys??!!!"

yes, you do love taking photos. The innocence of an 8mth old cannot be duplicated. You can make funny faces without feeling in the least embarrassed. These may not be the most picture perfect you, but they are precious images to daddy and me.

Sitting in a trolley

At Cold Storge

Jovann, in a supermarket trolley for the first time! We were at Cold Storage King Albert Park, and he just woked up after being carried in the Ergo by Daddy all the way from home. Yep, this time, Mommy drove......hehee. He sit in it happily and contentedly while Mommy zipped around looking for pork and chicken to cook his dinner with. into the basket also went zuchinni, sweet potato, carrots for Jovann and some sausages/bacon roll with asparagus/black pepper roast chicken for our dinner!

Jovann's First Teeth!

17 May Thursday 2007

Jovann's First Teeth! Finally! Mommy is so happy! You will be 8mths old tomorrow, and you got a present for US. :)

I was feeding you the "li" fruit at dinner time for you to suck and lick on, and as usual u were trying to bite it. but this time i hear friction and a gnawing sound. I didn't think anything of it...and continue letting you "bite". Until i suddenly looked closer and saw white buds on your lower gum! I took a closer look, which is not easy as you keep sticking out your tongue wanting to lick my fingers, but I managed to be sure its Teeth I saw! 2 white buds peeping out from your lower pink gum already.

I was so happy that I wanted to show Daddy. What better way to do it then let you continue licking the piece of fruit so that your gums will be exposed? But the next moment, I heard the sound of a fruit breaking into 2. Our reaction was immediate. Mommy took out the fruit, and Daddy digged his finger in frantically to hook out the smaller piece you have biten off, from your mouth. You immediately cried after suffering such a rude probing, but both Daddy and Mommy breathed a sigh of relief. Ah Gong consoled you by carrying you up. No more letting you bite like that, what a close shave.

that night, Daddy and me tried to take a photo of your budding teeth, but you were so active we couldn't get a decent shot. Oh well, next time. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mommy's DaY! Its my first! :)
I am so touched by this poem.....

A VERY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

NEWBORN'S CONVERSATION WITH GOD
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of
you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from
Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am
to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God said, You will simply call her, "Mom."

Jovann can swim!

Yes, Jovann can swim! and its free style.
But no, its not on in the water or pool. its on the bed!

Actually, he is learning to crawl. I suspect it is the pre-crawl stage for him. Instead of shuffling backwards which he has been doing, now he inches forward towards his goal by moving his body side to side and throwing out his arms as if swimming, a very very slow leisurely swim. Sometimes, halfway through, he need some prompting to continue. Babies have short attention spans, don't they?

The target object in this clip is our timer/clock which we have in our bed to time his drinking time at night (I need to know when is enough because he can suckle for 40mins during this sleepytime, more for comfort!). Interestingly, he has this intent fascination with this timer. No matter how tired, overstimulated he is, once he sees the timer his eyes will be zoomed in on it and will always try to grab for it.

Ah Gong and Me

Ah Gong and Me

When at Ah Gong's house on Weds - Fridays, he has a special bathtime ritual with me. After washing me up and drying me and putting me in nice clean clothes, Ah Gong loves to then comb my hair gently with the ivory husk comb that he bought especially for me, bring me in front of the full length mirror in Mommy's old bedroom (which is now MY bedroom), and make me pose for the camera for him to take a few shots of me. I will always oblige, and he is always tickled silly by the coy yet self satisfied expression I tend to wear on my face at this times.

Why is Ah Gong getting the camera in the picture? SSSSssshhhhh... he's showing off his new CAMERA lah, can't you tell???

Ah Gong actually invested in the LATEST Canon digital camera, the IXUS 70, just for ME. *Smug Look*. heehe, here's a few of the first shots with the new camera...

1st Time in my Safety 1st Booster Seat, minutes after Mommy brought it home from Taka Baby Fair. :P

Me in new clothes bought my 2nd grand aunty from Hong Kong. All of them said I look more matured in this. Do I?

My Uncle Parrot!!! Or is it Auntie Parrot? It's been 20+ years and they have NOT got that figured out....hhhhhmmm.... This is Mommy's pet parrot since she was 8yrs old. Poor him gotta be banished to the guest room whenever I am there, because Daddy Mommy thinks his screeches are too harsh for my vulnerable ears. Ah Gong likes to bring me into the room to look at "Jiao Gu", which means "uncle parrot" in Teochew, and I always kick my legs in excitement and screech happily at him, while he seems to be trying his best to put as much distance between us as his chain would allow. I do find him cute.... do you?
