Jovann's 1st Chinese New Year

Where have I been these 3 weeks without updating my blog? Busy with Jovann of course! This is his first CNY and I want it to be special. I had new clothes for him from reunion dinner all the way to 4th day of CNY, new socks, new shoes (ooops forgot to wear these!), new bedsheets, new blanket ....and the list goes on.

Bought new bedsheets, pillow case and bolster cases for him for CNY, as well as 3 pieces of pretty bunny blankets from Mothers Work. Had such fun changing his bedsheet on the 17th Feb, Jovann has a nice new bed tonight! :)



1st Day of CNY

Today you are FIVE MONTHS OLD! and its also the first day of the Lunar New Year! Happy 5 months Jovann. How you have grown and changed this past month. Many changes have taken place without us knowing, and every month there is something to cherish and look back upon with sweetness.

- You have started responding better to Mommy! Feel so happy that now I am now longer just your milk bottle or mother cow buffet. You smiled at me everytime we came back from work.

- Finally, you have flipped to show us, numerous times! Once you put you down, you flip, and will then look up and us and give us such a self-satisfied beam when we praise you. As if you are so proud yet pretending to be modest. Simply love that look! Once you can flip so often, we also noticed that you can lift your head up for longer periods now and not tiring.

- Mommy deigned to play peekaboo with you and you finally are able to appreciate it! You smiled widely, then started chuckling and laughing, and finally squealing out in mirth! Got it on video. :) - Hair pulling is more painful! Ouch!

- Kinda sit up supported but not for long

- Grabs everything on the changing table. And I mean EVERYTHING, and put into your mouth. Started to introduce changing table toys to distract you.

- Seems to be starting to recognise people. Stranger cannot carry for too long though you appear to be still friendly.

- Can entertain yourself when you wake up in the morning! There was once, you were just making noises, playing with your hands and fingers when Mommy come into the room early in the morning. There we 2 mornings when we suddenly hear the musical mobile switched on by itself! We were inclined to think you did it consciously, though deep down we knew it was a fluke, both times.

Off we go on a day of angbao collection! :) We visited Gong Gong Ma Ma, where you played with your cousins Shauna and Kieira, then zoomed off to visit your other Ah Ma, Mommy's god mom and Hia Ma Ma, followed by your Zou Zou at Holland. After that, back to Ah Gong Ah Ma's place because Mommy's childhood friends are visiting there and all were itching to see you again! by then, you were already so tired but couldn't manage to fall asleep well, Daddy stayed in the room with you making sure no one goes near your bed, while Mommy stayed outside entertaining. A discussion with Daddy, and we decided we will bring you home (around 10.45pm then) as its way past your bedtime, and settle you into your own familar bed with your regular bedtime routine, after which Daddy will stay home with you while Mommy zipped back to Ah Gong Ah Ma's plc to continue playing host! In the end, Mommy reached home around 1-2am. Lucky we didn't let you stay there. And fortunately Ah Gong Ah Ma stay so near to us. :) Day 1- Down!






3rd Day of CNY
3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th aunties were all gathering at 5th Auntie's place today, so we brought you there where you were being passed from Auntie to Auntie. You seemed to be enjoying it, smiling at everyone. But twice, you suddenly pouted and started crying, and Ah Ma had to rescue you from whoever Auntie's arms, and you prompty quitened down. We gathered that you are starting to recognise people already, how nice! :)

One day, we also visited your Big Uncle and Auntie's home, where your 2 cousins live. We plonked you into their activity centre toy once we reached there, and you were actually contented for almost half an hour! That decides that Mommy will be buying the Evenflo Exersaucer that I have been eyeing for so long.








We then went together to San Zek Gong's house, where San Jim Poh and Uncle Andy's wife Auntie Hwee Hong enjoyed herself playing with you. You were in such a good mood, but was a bit wary of Coco the beautiful Corgi, who zoomed towards you everytime you are low enough for her to reach.


That night, went to Gong Gong Ma Ma's house where there were so many Aunties and Uncles who gave you so many angbaos you can't grab all at once with your hands. You seemed a bit reserved when you were downstairs amongst the chaos, but started playing, screaming and entertaining yourself once you are upstairs in the room with your cousin Kieira.

Reunion Dinner 2007

Reunion Dinner 16 Feb 2007 - At Gong Gong Ma Ma's place. Its your first time sitting at the dining table with us! Thanks to your bumbo seat and your rocker that Daddy lugged red faced and complaining from our home. And its your FIRST TIME eating CEREAL! Boy, do you hate it! hahahaa. We captured that precious expression on your face through video, got such a kick watching it again and again.

17 Feb - Eve of CNY. At Ah Gong Ah Ma's place, where you recieved your first 2 Ya Sui Qian, your first angbao packets! You were sleeping when you recieve them, and Ah Gong whispered some qiao qiao huo into your ears which Mommy couldn't catch. So hope you caught it! Ah Gong and Ah Ma love you very much. Its a tradition in Mommy's family to give the child Ya Sui Qian to put under the pillow when he sleeps from the eve of CNY to the first day, and its symobolises a blessing from the parents that the child will wake up next day safe and wealthy. :)

Reunion Dinner with Gong Gong Ma Ma at Crystal Jade TPY. When Daddy walked out with you in your new clothes that Mommy chose, my heart went pitter patter, my little boy look so SAUVE. At least to me! My little lady killer. :) We love you so much, even without your little bandana.

Mommy's venture into digital scrapbooking

Yes, though I have spent tons of money, effort and not to mention valuable space in setting on my scrapbooking station, I have not touched it often enough to make the investment worthwhile. So much so that I have not even completed my WEDDING scrapbook, for crying out loud. I have to stop kidding myself that one day I will finish my honeymoon scrapbook.......ever. Guess the nice stacks of 12x12 paper may never be used up, nor the pretty little embellishments in their compartmentalised boxes, my tool kits and whatnots. Because I am going DIGITAL!

My first attempt, and I complete my first page in 1.5hours! Cool! Swell! Exhiliarating! so proud of myself. hehehee. Jovann darling, maybe now you REALLY will have your own pages of growing up years, coz this allows me to do everything in front of a computer.

Anyway, for those who don't know what a scrapbook is, here's my 1st 2 projects. :)

The day in the Life of 3 Bumbo Babies

One Lazy Sunday Afternoon, 2 boys were relaxing at home reading the day's headlines, sharing a tall Milk Latte between them. Life is good.


Then in strolled a girl, pretty in pink. All attempts at trivial pursuits abandoned, the boys goggled unabashedly at her
Enzo : *Utterly distracted* Wee woooo whee! chio babe! Jovann, check her out. Shall we date her?"


So it happens that they went to watch a scary movie - The Lost Bumbosaurus. As you guessed it, it was the boys' naughty idea. It went well to begin with.


Then something scared Arianne and she started crying
Jovann : *with chivalry* My lady, did that scare you? May I hold thy fair hands and thou shall be comforted"
Enzo : FLIRT...


The Clock strike 12. The curtains came down and the little princess dissappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving behind Miss Bola.
Enzo : *enraged* Look what you did,Jovann!!!
Jovann : Uh Oh.

Your love of play

Recently you are learning to laugh and chuckle louder and louder at the most unfunny things. It can be a funny face made by Daddy, some silly sounds we make, tickling you, kissing your toes, taking off your pants, even a simple look by Ah Gong or Gong Gong will send you into fits of giggles. Love your laughter.

Your Itchy Fingers!

Jovann Teo, your fingers are getting more and more restless. Changing diapers for you is no longer a quiet affair. Now it involves you looking around interestedly for things to grab AND put into your mouth. A typical session goes like this.

Jovann turns around looking for something to pull. Eyes lighted on the red plastic bag, grabbed it and prompty bring to mouth.
I pull it away quickly, worried the dirty diaper inside will spread their germs to him.
He looked behind him, found the tissue box cover, and squirmed his body around to consider it appraisingly for a while, before grabbing it again, and pulling out 4-5 pieces of tissue to stuff into his mouth.
I will be trying to clean his backside and having a hard time coz he won't keep still. At the same time pulling out the tissues from his opened wet mouth before he swallows one.
He will searched around again, relentlessly....... the cotton pads! Grabbed it and waved it triumphantly and madly around his head, squeezing it hard with both hands, seemingly gone bersek.
At this time, I am trying to put the clean diaper on for him. I pulled away the cotton pad bag for fear the sharp edges will poke into his eyes.

It was only later that I started to give him his beansprout pillow during all diaper changes, to prevent the above from happening. Now I fully understand why they have toys called "changing table toys". Gosh.

What Happens when 12 Babies and 21 parents get together?

Havoc! Fun! Lotsa hair pulling, brawling, finger licking and getting to know each other.

12 of our September 2006 babies got together at our place on 3 Feb and we had a babelicous GOOD TIME! The parents I mean...................

Daddy and Mummy is so excited with the photos Uncle Desmond took of our family, as he is already well-known as a fantastic photographer in the September 2006 thread even before we even met him. Mummy loves the photos coz she said it makes her look so slim hahahaa. But mummy, you ARE slim. Honest! *cross fingers behind me*

Mummy say I was a naughty boy that day, disturbed so many girls and leaving such an impression. I pulled Rachel's hair again and again, relentlessly. she cried so hard her mummy had to remove her from the playmat pic. So sorry, Rachel, but I do think you have nice hair, I can't resist. Before that, I had a tussling match with Jadelle on the mat coz I wanted the toy she was eyeing.

Auntie Wendy (baby Rachel's mum) asked to carry me, and I was happy in her arms, smiling and chuckling away, the ever-sociable me. She seems to like me, but that was before I made her little daughter cry... :(























Auntie Brenda did an excellent bola bola demonstration. what is bola? Its an inflatable ball that the mummies asked Auntie Brenda to buy, its only $2.25 but lotsa fun we can do with it!
























My shoulders seemed rather popular that day. A pretty baby Clarisse fell asleep soundly on my shoulder, while pretty baby Arianne leaned on it for some time. Not that I am not enjoying the attention. *wink*













































Baby Trinity's daddy and mummy did a cute little film of all the babies that day.
