Boxing Day

Its 26 Dec today, the day mei mei turns 2 months.

On that day, Mommy noticed meimei sucking on her own tongue for the first time, probably learning to self soothe. So cute! I never did that!

Happy Two Months Mei mei! Mommy says that now you can sleep till 4am after your 8pm feed, ONLY if you feed more than one side that time. Keep it up kae?

And Mommy today joined in the crowd at the Isetan private sales. She drove there in Daddy's car (since Daddy is in JB playing golf), with mei mei in the back seat (car seat). Auntie Tursini looked after her in the nursery of Isetan while Mommy ran like a mad woman through 3 levels of Isetan helping Daddy and Ah Ma collect their CNY clothes/stuff that they reserved on Tuesday. She managed to collect her own stuff too, and bought a present for a gift exchange the next day. She also stocked up on my organic bath gel, and her breast pads. However, due to shortage of time, she felt she wasn't totally pleased with her clothes purchase. Hehehe.

Auntie Joanne and Auntie Rina met up with Mommy, and Auntie Joanne helped Mommy pay for her purchase (and did a double take when she saw the bill) while Mommy rushed upstairs to nurse meimei. They then decided to drive to Dempsey for some lunch since Mommy got car. So off they went. Mommy had fish and chips, which is a rare thing she hardly orders dry dry stuff. For breastfeeding!!!

In the photo, meimei is beside mommy, in her car seat, snoozing. :)

The next day, I was looking through her purchase, and tallying her damages on my little "computer" (actually the calculator lah, which for some reason I call it "computer").

I even had an appropriately serious look on my face.
I said : "tsk tsk....Mommy....I can't believe how much you spent!"

"And only 3 miserable bottles of bath gel is for ME?????"

*Accusing look*

Biggest Fans of Little Nyonya

Jovann says.....

At Christmas, on Saturday 27 Dec, after dropping off some presents at Adele's and Spencer, Daddy brought Mommy to eat peranakan food. Actually, Daddy is a descendent of a peranakan family. My chor chor is a Nyonya, and Daddy's Daddy which is my Gong Gong is half Baba. When my Mommy Daddy got married, Mommy donned a red nyonya kerbaya with pheonix and dragons, complete with sarong bottom. She's trying to dig out a pic to show you....hehee.

So, my Ma Ma can cook delicious peranakan dishes, and Daddy is in love with these dishes which now he only can eat during CNY when Ma Ma will cook them. Mommy tried Ayam Bua Kelok and Ayam Seo for the first time at Daddy's place before they got married. Ayam Bua Kelok is really an acquired taste. At first try, Mommy didn't like it, but as the years go by, she found herself craving for it everytime CNY comes. So much so she never fail to order the organic Ayam Bua Kelok whenever she visits the organic cafe 7 Sensations with her colleagues. :) Yummy!

These 2 months, who isn't into the latest blockbuster Channel 8 Series The Little Nyonya? Mommy Daddy are huge fans, and always watch the recorded episode together now when both of us are in bed. Even during Mommy's confinement, she's been salivating for the food, and Daddy promised to bring her go eat even before CNY. So on Saturday, there we go!

So our family of 4 went to IVIN's at Thomson. Mei Mei slept throughout the meal. :)

I was quite well behaved, finishing my mee sua and eating some of the fishballs slowly. We didn't notice but a family at our neighbouring table has been observing me, and they waved goodbye back to me when I left, and jokingly asked me to take more fishballs and come back next time for more dishes. Hehee.

What Mommy Daddy ate......what PIGS they are....

1. Ayam Bua Kelok (Daddy Mommy's favourite)
2. Babi Ponteh (Mommy INSIST she must order this favourite dish of "Ju Xiang's" mom)
3. Nyonya Chap Chye (What Yu Zu cooked at the 80th Birthday celebration)
4. Chilli Fish
5. He Piow Soup

And Chendol and 10 more pieces of kueh which Daddy bought home for tea break!!!!! I TOLD you they are pigs.

Oh and last night Friday, they bought Rempah Udang from a pasam malam nearby and ate it while watching Little Nyonya. I am sure no one are a bigger fans than them already.

At Christmas 2008 - Gifts and Thomas Toy!

At Christmas, Jovann put on a new snowman BabyGap PJs! Its super cute, with a adorable snowman on the PJ top, and checkered red/white PJ bottom. and the best thing is, it cost only $3 at a shop in the plaza! Hehehe most likely a BabyGap FO piece.

At Christmas, we opened presents on Christmas Day and the days after that. Too many! The finale was the Thomas #1 Mega Playset, which Daddy reserve until J's nap before opening it with him and then spending about an hour assembling it, with Ah Gong and Ah Ma watching on. It was that huge.

Cranky the Crane

Salty with his load of oil at the Shipping Company Warehouse.

The crates can be slide down the Warehouse Chute and it makes music when it reaches the bottom!

James doing collection at the Barrel Depot.

Jovann will turn the side lever to load the barrels onto the cargo cars. Very fun! There's also a small door at the side for storing Thomas.

Percy Getting painted at the Sodor Paint Station

Emily passing by the loading/unloading station.

Jovann and his presents. These does not include the later 5 additional presents from his friends which we recieved on 28th Dec at the party (more of that later).

The latter presents are here. Ooops he opened 2 of them before Mommy remembered to take photos. :P He has a total of 17 presents this year. We asked him to count.

Jazreel and HER presents. :) Mommy opened her presents on Monday with Jaz lying in the rocker beside Mommy.

Why does kids always gets more presents than adults???
Look, this is all we have this yr. Hhmmph. Hahahaha!

At Christmas, one of the presents we bought Jovann is this book by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond. Brenda recommended this series to me. Instead of finding the individual books, I happen to find THIS Treasury, which includes the 3 famous books of "When you give a pig a pancake", "When you give the mouse a cookie", "If you take a mouse to school" and "When you give a moose a muffin". It also comes with recipes of the cookies, the muffins and the pancake in question, plus some other mouthwatering snacks. It contains pages of games instructions, a CD, songs lyrics, and activities to play. Its wondeful! I have not fully explored it yet, but intend to try out some baking recipes SOON.

Christmas Eve at Auntie Li'an's place

These group of friends are Mommy's secondary school classmates and they are pretty close. They gather every Christmas. They used to have this way of "snatching presents" that is really hilarious, but Auntie Hanzi (Li'an) suggested that this yr we be more civilised, so they drew lots for the presents instead hehe.

Auntie Cindy and Uncle Guoming is already there. Auntie Weini can't join us this year because she just given birth 2 days ago (pls refer to earlier post). Auntie Miang was very very late!!! The adults were starting to growl from hunger, and Uncle Guoming and Daddy kept going to the kitchen door and made signs of fainting from hunger, to speed things up.

The chefs...Auntie Li'an is 25 weeks pregnant. How nice!!!

While I went around displaying my amateur photography skills.

Trying to take photos of Mommy....

ooops who's legs are these....

Looking up at Uncle Thomas

Daddy took this.

meimei woke up...

Finally the food is ready!
We had spaghetti, ngor hiang, bacon asparagus rolls, and cucumber/carrot/breadsticks with dips. In light of the current favourite Channel 8 blockbuster serial, Uncle Guoming complained to them that they did not stem the ngor hiang skin first before frying. hehehe! I didn't understand what they are saying but Mommy Daddy seemed to coz they were roaring with laughter. The food was delicious!

The hosts are so sweet, gave a goody bag each for mei mei and myself. I got a Thomas Toy, and even a winnie the pooh goody bag (although Uncle Thomas wrongly gave me the Cinderalla one to start with), and started playing with the stuff inside. The blowout was spoilt by me in no time. I kept blowing and saying "elephant!".

Uncle Guoming playing balloon with me. Watch me burst it!

As it was Christmas Eve, Mommy thought of staying out longer and tried making mei mei go to bed in their study room. She went through the bedtime routine with her outside for the first time. After she put mei mei down, mei mei played on her own for some time. Then suddenly started wailing. We had to rush the gift exchange, cut the log cake, and leave. Uncle Thomas and Auntie Li'an was so sweet, insisting that I take a piece of cake home with me. Coz before that, I kept pestering them to "I wanna cut cake....I wanna cut cake....". Daddy explained to them that I thought this is a party so there's sure to be cake to blow candles with hehe. They even gave me a piece of Santa to go with it. :)

Presents!

Xmas Carolling on the Lawn

Xmas Carolling on the Lawn - 23 Dec 2008 Tuesday

Auntie Brenda organised a Xmas Event at Riders Lodge in Bukit Timah, and invited the old folks there to enjoy the festive cheer. Our family went there, bringing our little ones in tow, to spread some joy to the old folks.

Little Jovann was given a gingerbread man, a mozzie repellant wrist band, a puzzle toy and a Christmas cap upon signing in at the "entrance". :) I find the mozzie repellant band very cool. Since J oredi has mozzie spray and Jaz has spray and stickers and electric repellant, I wore the wrist band on myself.

Jovann 1st time riding a pony at 2 yrs old!!! Hee Haaaaa!!! The pony is a 8yr old male called Apache, lovely temperament. Jovann rode Apache one round around the huge enclosure. This video is taken at the last part when he's already approaching the starting/end point.

I badly wanted J to do face painting, but hubby not comfy. :o.

Its really a special way of partying, we spread our mats on the grass, and relax and ate and chit chat, and listened to the lovely carolling by RJC choir, followed by some beautiful guitar and song pieces by Angels are Architects. It was really soothing and bliss, sitting there under the darkening sky amidst friends and laugher. We met Adele, Reubern, Chloe, Sophie, Arianne there. :)

Little Jaz woke up.

Oh and I love the food, esp the mee goreng and butter chicken, which has always been my favourite indian dish, hehe.

As the sky darkens....

We left around 7.20pm as its nearing Jaz bedtime.
