Jovann's growth...

Jovann is changing so fast I need to record down each of his development and little quirky habits before he goes onto other things. I have a lousy memory, so I have to try very hard to record down little little achievements so that I will not forget them...

19 Dec. Its the first time he started showing a bit of separation anxiety when we leave him at my parents. Usually he gets so happy seeing ah gong ah ma that he is not bothered at all when we wave goodbye at him from the door. we will be lucky if he even notice we are gone haha. We choose to take it as a good thing coz it means he is having a good time at their place and he is very much loved. Everytime we reach home he will whine for us to carry so I know we are missed definitely. But recently, he showed some "bu she de" and kept leaning forward towards the gate for us to kiss him, with that cute little expression he likes to make recently. Only when we kissed him repeatedly through the gates will he be happy. On 19 Dec, its the first time he started whining and even crying/protesting a bit when we waved byebye to him. he looks so upset we kept kissing him until he waves happily at us.

21 Dec Friday
Baby Signing. When putting him to bed that night, he pointed at his cot asking me to put him down as usual, saying "er er er!" at the same time. I told him "bed bed" and did the sign of "bed". He looked at me steadily with a slight smile on his face. He seemed to forget he wants to get down. So I carried him for a while more. Then he started pointing at the bed again, so I went "bed bed" and signed "bed". this time, he placed his right hand on my left cheek to imitate my action. I laughed and guided his hand to his own cheek. The next moment, when I said "bed bed" and did the sign, he placed his right hand on his cheek and leaned towards it correctly doing the "bed" sign!!! I was so elated, when Daddy came in later I showed him. Jovann looked so pleased with himself too! :)

Tonight, have also started teaching him to put his dirty clothes into the laundry basket. Was inspired by Shona the parenting instructor. :) So after changing into his PJs, I put Jovann on the floor, picked up a piece of his dirty clothes and passed it to him. Together, I walked with him to his laundry basket in the adjacent study room, and showed him how I placed it into the basket. The next time we walked back to retrieve some more clothes, he knows which room to enter and which basket to place the clothes in. :) The next few nights, we kept this up until he started walking by himself into the room and putting the clothes in without my holding his hand hehehe.

Recently, I told hubby that Jovann has this lovely action when I am putting him to bed. When I am carrying him, and asks him "Do you love Mommy?", he will inadvertently lift up his face and kissed me softly on the lips. It so so so sweet that I am always so touched when he does this. None of us has taught him to do that...so it still amazes us where did he learn that from. I am thinking that it could be because we tend to say "i love you" to him a lot, and sometimes the words are followed by smooches all over his face, that he comes to associate "love" with "kiss". Whatever the reason, it warms me inside whenever i see this affectionate side of his. :)

23 Dec Sunday

I was watching the "Baby can Read" DVD with him and the song "If you're happy and you know it......" was playing. When it reached "stomp your feet", I stomped my feet to show him, and after a few times, he started doing it whenever it sang that part! :)

Today is also the first time, when playing with the playdoh set he has, that he imitated me and used the stamping tool to stamp onto the playdoh to make the pattern of a flower. :)

Today, I cooked fried hor fun for the very first time. I fry thin white kuay tiao with sliced garlic, spinach and fish, with a bit of stock. He wanted me to carry when I cooked, so I did, and showed him this is for his dinner. The cooking hor fun smells damn nice. He seemed to be anticipating the food. When I put him down into his highchair he didn't fuss at all, and when I was slow in sitting down to feed him, he made some impatient noise! and he ate up every single bit of that "hor fun"! The highlight of the day came when I was putting him to bed that night. I was lying down on the bed beside him, and he has just sat up in his cot with his cheeky smile. And I heard a burp, followed by the unmistakable smell of garlic breath!!! When hubby came in, I told him what happened and added "Like father like son!" I haven't seen a prouder beam on his face.

24 Dec Monday. Xmas Eve.
Today when Mommy got back to ma ma gong gong's place, and was playing with you. I noticed your left hand is rarely used. You sit and play and hold things with your right hand, and your left hand is held up gingerly and relaxed from the wrist down. You did not crawl and when I touched your left hand a bit harder you winced. I was worried and asked Daddy. Daddy said he noticed it too and after repeatedly asking gong gong and ma ma many times, we found out your left arm could have been hurt when they were holding your hands walking to the kitchen. You lost your footing and gong gong's natural reflex was to jerk you up to prevent you from falling. You then started crying, and they thought it was because of the carpet you just stepped on coz you have developed an aversion to sand recently. Now we know its actually your left hand being hurt. We were so worried, and further observations of you "crawling", holding things, playing with toys, confirmed our fears, your left hand is hurt. Mommy tried touching you along the arm and hands, but could not identify the actual hurting part. Daddy went home and did an internet search on broken bones and mild sprains/strains. What we could conclude is its probably more likely to be a sprain and not anything to do with the bone. The early morning call to the PD the next day confirmed this. PD asked us to feed panadol, but i refused. Its the 2nd day oredi, and you seemed to be coping well with the pain. you will not put pressure on that hand, but neither are you crying badly, you are going about as before, just not crawling. When you walk, I have to make sure I am nearby so you dun fall on your hand. I don't want to feed panadol or any med unnecessarily. And luckily and amazingly, in the afternoon you just got better! YOu started crawling very very fast and you seemed to behave normally after that. Thank GOD! We were super worried esp since you seemed more dominant in your left hand.

28 Dec MOnday
Today, at Ah Gong Ah Ma's place, you learned 3 things!

You understand "wash face" in teochew. When we say "Ah Gong soi bin (wash face)", you will rub your hands over your face. hehehe! They showed it to us and it was so cute!

You also learned the sign for "More". Mommy has showed you the sign 1, 2 times a few days before, half heartedly. Tonight, Ah Ma was eating fried bee hoon on the sofa. And you walked over curiously and looked at her. I went over to feed you some from her plate (coz our plate's bee hoon got chilli padi), you seemed to like it, and toddled back to her after a while. I asked you "do you want more Jovann? More more....".and I did the sign. After a while, you followed me!!!! (but your version is fingers together touching the centre of your other palm). So I happily fed you the bee hoon from Ah Ma's plate. After that, you kept going back and going back to Ah Ma on the sofa and eagerly signing and signing " more" and "more" hehehee, so Mommy fed and fed you. Until Ah ma told you "no more lah!" heheheheee....

Mommy also taught you to "play golf". You were walking around with the fly swatter in your hand that evening. There was a ball on the floor, and Mommy guided your hand to swat at the ball with your fly swatter. You seemed to find it fun so you continue doing it amidst peals of laughter from me. I asked you to show Daddy later. I know it more resembles hockey, but golf is Daddy's fav past time so we will guide you in that direction, heheheee! :)

29 Dec

Today, Daddy started teaching you to sign "please" without my knowing. Later on that same day, he proudly brought you to me and asked you "Jovann, say please", and you signed it by putting your hand onto your chest and gently rubbing down (instead of circular), Mommy was so pleased!

LOVE YOU JOVANN!

Xmas Gathering - 22 Dec

22 Dec Saturday, Uncle Malcolm, Auntie Sharon, Uncle Sean and Auntie Alicia with Adele came to our place for a Xmas gathering! Daddy Mommy prepared some food for them…while you napped. It was a very very fast and efficient kitchen that morning. Some of the things were already prepared the night before (peeling the prawns, slicing the fish cake and tao pok etc) else we won’t be able to get everything nicely done before 12.30pm. J

Our dining table is transformed.

Chocolate Fondue (korean/new zealand strawberries, marshmallows, bananas, apples) and Laksa (Yeeeap, Laksa for Xmas indeed) aside, there’s something I really wish to mention about today. Today is the first time you walk alone unsupported for many many steps and a long distance! Before today, you will walk unsupported for like 6-7 steps before looking for something to hold, or grabbing Mommy Daddy. But today, probably because there’s some many things to distract you, so many ppl/things to play with, or coz you saw Adele can walk so well, you actually walk around over the house unsupported most of the time! You look so farn cute doing that, like a cute little tiny missile went off course that me and Daddy and Mommy exchanged a proud and happy look when we saw you do that.

You kept disturbing Uncle Malcolm. When they were watching Little Mermaid II, you kept giving him a cd cover, and he will take it from you and bring it behind his head. You will toddle over to the back of the sofa, grab it from his hands, then toddle back to the front again to pass it to him.

All of them brought presents for you. Thank you Auntie Sharon, Uncle Malcolm and Adele's Mommy Daddy! :)

Jovann's 1st Christmas Tree

I have my first Christmas tree!!!

When I was 3 months old in Dec 2006, it was Christmas, but Mommy Daddy had their hands full taking care of me and did not have the energy to put up their beloved Christmas tree for me to sit under and drool over the presents. Though they did not shortchange me on the presents that year lah, as can be seen from the Christmas 06 blog entry.

However, this year, the excitement is mounting! The presents have all been bought in the earliest time, and Mommy felt so leisurely strolling in Takashimaya today (20 Dec) watching those frantic xmas shoppers add purchases into their bulging bags. Leaving me at Ah Ma's house for today, Mommy Daddy went home to put up the Christmas tree, for a surprise for me when I come back that night.

All my presents went under the tree too! Together with many many other presents for little kids like me and Mommy Daddy's friends as well. My biggest present (in the green wrapping) cannot go UNDER the tree so had to be left standing upright beside the tree. I am so excited!!! Christmas, come quick!

Isn't my tree pretty? (you can see it behind the presents....can you???)

Daddy put barricades around the tree to prevent me from pulling down the presents and tearing them up. The barricades are in the form of the coffee table, my toy box, and 3 toy chests. Mommy and Daddy are now guessing what I will do when I see this tree in the day. Will I climb over the boxes, pull out the boxes, climb over the coffee table, or just keep screaming until I get to reach it??!! We'll seee.... I am now in dreamland.......hehee.

Christmas Presents Wrapping!

Christmas Presents!

16 Dec, Mommy felt the presents wrapping mood took over her. She thought of the 5 gigantic and lovely rolls of wrappers, and the huge pile of presents from Takashimaya, Toysrus, Crabtree & Evelyn, Robinsons waiting to be wrapped, and her hands started getting itchy and so at 11.20pm, Mommy started wrapping the huge mount of presents...... until 2am!!! gosh!!! Here's the end product. :)

Today is 19 Dec, and Mommy has added 5 more wrapped presents to the pile. Hahaha! Which of these are mine....I wonder....Mommy told me I have 8 presents till date, and counting! 2 of them are huge ones! Yippeeee! Keep them coming pleeeeaaaassseee...

Earlier today, Mommy Daddy brought me to Tanglin Mall after my swim. I showed a lot of interest in the wooden train tracks set-up for kids to play. I kept walking round and round the track, holding on to 1 or 2 toy wooden trains or cars, and played with them on the table. I have not learnt to aim them on the track's grooves yet. There are other bigger kids there, and I kept watching them. Seeing them I am enjoying it so much, Mommy strolled into the Better Toy Store (where these toys came from) to browse what she can buy for me. She saw this starter track set from PlanToys. Daddy thought get the wooden trains instead so they can observe whether my interest lasts.

Then they brought me into the store itself, and I got very fascinated by this wooden roller toy that Daddy showed me (Mommy checking out the train sets)!! I kept pushing and pulling it, and it made a lot of noise, thats why I like it! I held onto the toy and walked holding onto Daddy's hands to go find Mommy. Later, I held onto Mommy for support while I played....and played.....and played...... Mommy checked the price tag... $45.90......and after some teasing and tempting by Daddy, she decided to buy it for me!!! Hurray! It was to be my 4th Xmas present! But its the first one that I played with, that day itself...this one Mommy didn't bother to wrap. :P

Here's me enjoying my toy the next day.

**

The night before, I was happily playing with it, and I pulled it all the way into my bedroom, where I then proceeded to show interest in Daddy's dry box and packet of cotton pads.
Mommy stopped me from removing the cotton pads one by one, and I kicked SUCH A FUSS! She tried to distract me using this new wooden pull toy, but instead of appeasing me, I developed an aversion to that toy! Mommy nearly panicked ($45.90 undepreciated down the drain)...fortunately....15mins later, I forgotten about the whole incident and started playing with it again. :P

September Babies Xmas Bash

Date 15 Dec Place My Gym

So much fuN! That day, we had a parenting session hosted at our house, and it was another session of fun sharing, insightful advice from Shona the instructor, and nice food. Auntie Brenda personally baked lovely swiss rolls, Auntie Krist bought a nice Christmas fruit cake and we also laid out some little pastries from Chocz.

Then, late in the afternoon is the bash! Mommy Daddy put you to an early nap so that you can wake up in time for the bash, but we were still late by 20mins, but still in time! your eyes lighted up the moment you saw what equipment and swings and slides there are. You immediately zoomed into the car, and sat there happily for some time, before coming to the realisation that you are missing out on more fun if you stay in the car. so off you crawl to the tramboline, tent, slides, what nots. You have such a happy grin on your face it warms our heart to see it. :)

During the dining time, all the kids sit at the table, with a xmas theme plate in front of them, complete with matching napkins, plastic forks and cups. Its darn cute. You initially had the red plate, but reached over to your right to grab the green plate and exchanged it! so cute to see you do that! do you like green Darling? During the trial at JG, you simply cannot sit still at the table. But that day at MyGym, you sat there for pretty long! entertaining yourself with the food, crackers, biscuits that Der Nen and Adele shared with you. It was more than 10-15mins before you got bored and wanted to stand on the chair.

You also love the music and movement session, grinning from ear to ear. At one point, your friend Arianne came toddling over to you and Auntie Brenda came chasing after her and sat down next to us. You chuckled during the part when Mommy rocked backwards and raised you high in the air. You grinned when Daddy swayed you side by side. (check out Der Nen dancing in the video too)

**

Your favourite must be the hand swing, no idea what to call it. but the instructors set up these ropes to the contraption hanging from the ceiling, with hand holds for little kids to grab. When its your turn, Mommy was a bit worried if you will fuss, but you liked it so much you twisted your body excitedly during the swinging and the instructor had to check if you are protesting or am just happy hehehe. Mommy can see that you enjoy such movement play. I remembered you loved monkey bars too.

Your friends... :)

Towards the end, during the group phototaking, you protested coz you wanted to continue playing, so it was hard getting a good shot of you.

Its Christmassss!!!

Mommy simply love Christmas. Mommy love choosing presents, wrapping presents, giving presents, especially giving YOU presents, and basking in the spirit of joy and laughter. Mommy love taking photos too...and receiving presents of course!

Mommy and Daddy's all time favourite Christmas Decoration location is Tanglin Mall. Probably coz it has won Champion in one of the years during our dating days, probably coz we took some nice sweet photos there when Daddy and I first started dating. :) As it is, when we drove past one day recently, and saw the signature christmassy european village design Tanglin is so famous for, we decided to bring you here for photos this Christmas. :)

2 Dec 2007, so so pretty! Love these photos that Daddy took of me and you!

This is my favourite so far, you look so CHEEKY!

8 Dec 2007, we were back at Tanglin Mall, this time at night. We had come out for dinner at Don's, bought some groceries, and preparing to set off on the scenic drive down the entire Orchard Road to let you enjoy the Christmas lightup! :) We came again to the Tanglin set up we visited 6 days ago, and took some night shots this time. :)

Back when you were 3 months old...

Then and now!

Amazing changes

17 Dec 2007

1 year ago on 9 Nov 2006, when you are barely 2 months old, we brought you to Vivocity, which was newly opened then. We went just after you had a jab at the PD (silly parents then, actually went shopping with you instead of bringing you home to rest). We were so proud of our little bundle of joy, we went around taking so many photos of you. You were so small and "portable (in Daddy's words)" then, on total breastfeeding, so easy to feed, so guai, so adorable!

Today, 17 Dec 2007, 1 year on, Christmas time. We brought you to Vivocity again. This time, you are coming to 15months in a day's time, starting to walk, very talkative, have a mind of your own and a voice (yell) that carries. We deliberately took a photo in the same spot... Daddy has fantastic memory. The changes are AMAZING!!!!!!

(Notice the background of the before/after pics are the same. ToysRUs (mommy) and Charles & Keith (Daddy). :P
)

Standing ALONE!

Its truly amazing how much changes a year has brought. Its Christmas again, and you are such a big boy now. Watching you grow, Mommy Daddy sometimes feel both pride and sadness at the same time. sadness because the infant and baby you is so sweet and innocent and precious, the baby stage passes to fast, before we know it, you will be running around the place and don't want us to carry anymore. so bittersweet....

See, how adoring you were at 2mths...

And how big and cheeky you are now! :) :) :) *BEAMING WITH PRIDE*

by the way, you are wearing your new NIKE shoes that Uncle Guoming and Auntie Cindy bought you for your 1st birthday. :) Thank you!!!

Cheeky you

(14 Dec 2007)
Cheeky you...

You are quite bilingual now. You can understand some questions put forth to you in english, chinese and teochew. Example, when we asked you "who is Jovann Teo?", you will pat your own chest proudly. Same when we asked you "Shei shi Zhang Han Ming?". Just today, Ah Ma showed us that you understand "wash hands" in chinese and teochew as well! You love washing hands..and flinging them dry and cleaning them on the towels. So once we say "wash hands", "xi shou" (chinese) or "shoi qiu" (teochew), you will rub your palms together happily.

When Ah Gong wants to bring you downstairs, he will tell you he needs to wear his shorts "cheng kou" (in teochew) and upon that comment you will zoom straight for the rack where his pants are and kept pointing at it urgently with all a lot of unintelligible noise until he puts on THAT pair that you are pointing at.

You understand that mommy's parrot at Ah Gong's place is called "bird bird" or "jio gu" (teochew for bird uncle hahaha). You like to enter the room to look at him though he don't exactly reciprocrate those feelings. :)

When asked "how old are you? (english)" or "Han Ming ji sui? (chinese)" or "Han Ming gui huay? *teochew)", you will point your index finger upwards with a loud "Nng!!" to indicate you are 1 yr old (plus). :P

You learn things fast too. Mommy has been washing your toothbrush under the running water before letting you hold. You absolutely love "brushing" your teeth, and happily move the toothbrush in and out of your mouth, not exactly in a brushing motion but its enough for me. Tonight, Mommy let you remove the toothbrush from the little sheep tooth brush holder yourself, and the first thing you do is hold it under the empty tap, waiting for the water to clean it first before putting into your mouth.

Mommy recently decided to teach you baby sign language coz I know you have been feeling very frustrated when you cannot expressed yourself. Knowing that boys also tends to be late in speaking, I am not worried about when you will eventually start talking. Right now, your vocab consists of "Dad", "Daddy", "mama", "mum mum" and "ah ma". sometimes "ah gng (ah gong)" too. Auntie June suggested I check out the website for how to sign, and that day (9 Dec), we started teaching you some words. To our surprise, when we said "milk milk" the next day, you did the sign for milk!!! so proud of you. Though it was 4 days more later that you start ASKING for milk using that sign. :)

You cheeky boy, for the past 2 mths you have been indicating that you wish to be put down into the bed whenever you feel I have carried you enough during sleepy time. Past few days, I have been putting you in bed, then lying down in our own bed beside your cot, with a big pillow separating us. Tonight, I was resting like this, waiting for you to fall asleep on your own, when I opened my eyes and saw you had crawled up and is now peeping from the edge of the pillow at Mommy. But when I said "Didn't I ask you to sleep?!!", you promptly dissolved into fits of giggles, fell into bed and buried your head on your pillow feigning sleep. Later, I heard movements again and squinted out from half closed eyelids only to see you peeping above the pillow at me. You didn't know I was looking at you and, still with eyes closed, I warned "Jovann Teo, sleep!". You fell into bed laughing again.

I Love you so much. :)

Mommy is on 2 days leave to accompany you for 2 days next week!!! So nice!!! :) :) :)

(some photos taken one Sunday afternoon when Mommy and Daddy trying to capture your rosy cheeks)

He is 14 coming 15...

Jovann growing growing....

Back to happier things.... :)

If possible, Jovann is cheekier than ever ever.... he rarely looks at you without a cheeky grin....he is always making some noise or in motion and trying out, testing his boundaries....

what I love about him...

- He loves kissing us.... especially me. :) sometimes, when I am trying to put him to bed, and I am still carrying him and his head is leaning on my shoulder...he will suddenly gaze up at me, then lean forward to kiss my lips. he will do it again and again until my heart feels so tender it can break.... at times like this, he will even manage a cheeky grin again.....before leaning back on my shoulder....

- When he is pushing his toy car or toy walker, I love looking at him from behind, his wobbly walk and his cute little bottom and legs pumping furiously with the forward movement... and him screaming happily with delight at the same time

- He will make noise if I reach home without carrying him first. Before I stopped nursing, he will cry and cry and need the person carrying him to bring him all the way to the toilet where I am washing my hands. If he is on the floor, he will crawl rapidly towards me and cry until I am done and ready to carry him. Nowadays, after I stopped nursing....he seldom does this anymore....though at times he still do.....

- how he kiss his pooh bear. instead of kissing, he is more like biting pooh bear's nose off... after he has his fill, he will promptly throw him over the edge of the cot. :P

- Love it also when he removes the Laugh and LEarn home's misc items from a ziplock bag one by one, then put it back one by one.

- How he tries to throw a ball to us but in his excitement throws it backwards instead.

- how he looks when he sits on the toilet bowl....everytime he makes a poo we will praise him, and without fail he will lean his face towards us to be kissed. he does this even when one night he woke up middle of the night to poo. in his sleep befuddled state, he still lean forward for his "appreciation kiss".

- one night, i manage to make him stick out his tongue when cleaning his teeth, so that I can reach his tongue too. I was so please i kissed him a lot after he does it, and if he does it without biting me. the following night onwards, everytime he allows me to put my cloth in to clean his teeth, he will lean his right cheek against me for his kiss...

- once at the zoo, I was carrying him and he suddenly lean towards me and kissed my neck, it was so ticklish I kept laughing and thus he kept doing it hehehe.

- how he loves to pass things to people. We try to encourage that, as I wish to cultivate in him a desire to share... if he sees other people, be it aunties in supermarkets, bigger girls at restaurants, other kids at shopping malls. If he is holding something in his hands, he will hold it out to the person, making a "ng ng" or "ah ah.." sound to ask them to take it.

- this one very hard to describe. one of our fav actions of his. sometimes in his highchair, he will suddenly throw both his palms outward, "gek" very hard with his face until it turns a bit red, and make a loud "NnnnGGGGggggg" sound. the whole performance is like one of those street fighter characters throwing out a fireball, very impressive hahahaa. so hubby pretends to be hurt and falls backward, and Jovann dissolve into chuckles hehehe.

- how he points at his bed when he wants us to put him down to sleep.

- how he starts bouncing on his bottom very hard right after he throws a ball

- When he hears some music, he will start "dancing"...

- Whenever we ask him 'who's the nottiest boy in the world?", he will raise him one hand without hesitation.

Weaning Thoughts...

Jovann will be 15 months in 9 days time....oh my, how time flies.....I wish I can grab time, replay so many lovely scenes and memories so I an enjoy them slowly.... time flies too fast when you have a child growing up so fast in front of your eyes...

I have not been posting for some time....as I suffering from weaning withdrawal sympthoms.... :( Yes, Jovann is finally weaned off breastfeeding....my last latch was on the morning of 5 Dec... how do I feel now? if I am not thinking about it, I feel fairly okie. But at times like now, when I am blogging about it, I feel so down and sad...I feel like I just lost something....sigh....

I know other breastfeeding mommies will understand...esp mommies who breastfeed past 1 yr...because at 1 yr, our babies are so much more responsive than when they were tiny and helpless at 3 mths....and nursing is so much more rewarding at 1 yr old...because they communicate with you through the look in their eyes when you are nursing. and weaning him off, though a much easier process technically than I had expected, was hard emotionally. very very hard. harder for me than for him, like what many experts has warned.

How did I do it? I had thought I will have a problem on my hands, because Jovann nursed to sleep and he cries if I don't nurse him. If daddy takes over with a bottle of EBM, he will cry pitifully for me until I take over, and then he won't want the bottle, he will want to latch. Once he latch on, he will gaze at me with trusting eyes, gazing and gazing until his eyelids grow heavy with sleep. 9 times out of 10, he will fall asleep that way.

Its a lovely way to fall asleep for a baby, and i secretly relish the knowledge that I am the only one who provides such comfort to him enough for him to enter dreamland contented and happy. But I know, its not the right way to fall asleep. So the night feed is the first one that we tried to wean off instead of the morning feed. of course, by this time, his day feeds are already through bottle. Jovann rejects FM. he will gag and puke out FM when we try. so we tried mixing with EBM, which I know is not good, but the PD also agree its better than nothing. Then one day, i decided to try dilution instead. By now, I already down to 3 pumps a day. only once during work.

The day before I tried, I spoke to him during nursing. shared with him my feelings on weaning him off, and reassuring him that I will not love him any less just because of this, and that I will love him more and more each day, that Mommy is tired..and needs to stop breastfeeding....

Amazingly, miraculously, the next night, he took the diluted FM without fuss!! I think its the mild taste that makes him accept it coz its close to EBM taste. or it could be the talking to him the night before. Or it could be its the right time. But that night was the turning point. I felt both relieved yet sad. A good friend shares the same feeling with me because she weaning off at the same time. A part of you feels relieved that you dun have to pump and wash and sterilise pumps any more, the other part of you feels lost because the unique and close link between you and your baby forged further through breastfeeding is different now. and will always be different. Yes, mothers are always bonded with their child....but the breastfeeding bond is different and special, its indescribably sweet, poignant, generous, mutually needful, without boundaries...

As it goes....I started dropping work pump altogether. Then the morning pump. and eventually the night pump. And on 5 Dec morning, I nursed him for the last time because he tugged at my blouse when he woke up in the morning.... I cried 2 mornings ago.....but on the 5 Dec it was a bit better, because I have cried it out and come to terms with it. Joanne, I know you will understand....

I am going to wash my nursing bib and pack it away for now.... I am keeping my pump somewhere safe... and I will not need nursing tea for some time now....no more locking meeting room doors, pasting envelopes to cover up the window....no more going around with a fridge-to-go....and the mini fridge in my office will be moved to hubby's new office soon....

what a turning point in my journey of motherhood......
