Jovann got his Purple Throne

Mummy wish to procure for me my 1st Bumbo baby seat, as she had the idea (from the photos of the happy babies sitting in theirs) that I will enjoy it since I always like sitting/being held upright. she seemed to be right in that, hehehe!

And I will also like to show off all my baby friends!
The Mambo Jumbo Bumbo Babies GANG!

The day I look like Daddy!

Mummy was esctatic when she saw this shirt in Fox Baby that look like the mini version of a springfield shirt daddy has. It went into the shopping basket within 5 seconds. She has visions of dressing me in that and looking like a small version of daddy, albeit more handsome of course.

So, it was decided I will wear that on the 27 Jan.

Auntie Li'an invited us to her chalet at NSRCC. We were supposed to reach there at 4pm so Mummy can spend 1.5hours there sanba-ing with Auntie Li-an before rushing from East Coast to Orchard to attend 3rd Uncle's solemnisation at Marriott. But as luck would have it, and because of me I must add, daddy mummy ended up rushing out at 3.40pm, reaching NSRCC at 4.20pm, then was unlucky enough to end up behind another car at the barrier into the bungalow that decided to reverse in high speed into us and.......*CRASH*! There goes daddy's front license plate into scrap haven. I was in deep sleep after mummy sang more than 500 songs to me on the way here to lure me into dreamland, so that crash stirred me awake a few minutes later. To cut the long story short, Daddy exchanged some details with the lady driver, made her sign a form, then proceeded to the bungalow where Auntie Hanzi was already anxiously waiting for us having heard of the news via mummy's smses.

Since we only have 0.5hours there before we need to leave, it was a quick catching up with them on their newly married life, and lotsa coo-ing and gaa-ing over humble me
.

Auntie Hanzi : "cutie......they made the hands so small nowadays......."

Auntie Hanzi and Jovann : "It's love at first sight......"

Jovann : "Damn it, you are married. Cheh."
Auntie Hanzi: "It's alright, Thomas won't mind...."

Jovann :"Well....we do look good together".....

Uncle Thomas snatched me from Auntie Hanzi's hands and plonked me on the sofa.

Jovann:"Okie, I am seated and I am bib-ed. Now where is my milk and dancing ladies?"

Jovann :"Drooool....the samba egg looks darn good...."

Jovann:"okie, i am sick of this sofa......."

(By the way, Auntie Li'an, Mummy has finally uploaded the photos of pretty you and me taken on your wedding day! Sorry for the delay as I made her too busy. Check out the previous posting on your wedding. :))

Now, its time for you to ask, so whats the meaning of the title of this post??!!! well.......this is me and daddy! Don't we look alike??!!

How your grandparents love you

Dear Jovann, when you grow up, you must love all 4 of your grandparents, because they love you so much.

Ah Gong and Ah Ma had to endure so many of your tantrums when you are sleeping, tired and therefore irritable. You kick and punch Ah Gong sometimes when he is holding you in his arms. Many times he frantically warm up your milk feed and trying to placate the screaming you at the same time, only to have you fall asleep once the milk is ready. When you are in your "I-don't-wish-to-drink-from-bottle" mood, Ah Gong had to carry you in one arm and bounced around in a mock-dance to keep you entertained enough to finish 50ml. Ah ma has also had to sing and dance in front of you when Ah gong is feeding you to keep you distracted to forget the milk is coming from the bottle and not mummy. I saw her doing that before and she was panting with exhausation and you must remember that your ah ma is not in the best of health. They do all they can to keep you happy and well-fed because they love you.

Gong gong and mama loves having you over on mondays and tuesdays. You squeal and laugh so loudly when gong gong plays with you, chuckles with glee and likes to hold conversations with them. mama loves you very much. Once, she was carrying you in her arms and sitting on the floor. gong gong came over with a hot cup of tea and pretend to offer it to ma ma. he made the mistake of holding the cup of tea over you, and ma ma literally exploded with rage at gong gong. She was so verbal and expressive with her thoughts about gong gong one would think he had tried to force hot tea down your throat. As it is, not a drop spilled out of the cup at all but ma ma is fantic and adamant that gong gong not do something like that again.

Worried - Is he losing weight?

Mummy said I seemed to be losing weight since the 2nd 5-in-1. That checkup I weighed 6.9kg, but the recent weighing at home showed that I is 6.6kg sometimes. She's concerned as since birth I have always exceeded the average weight of growing newborns, and Mummy always feel proud that her milk is making me strong and big, heavier than the mean weight. As I am fed purely breastmilk, the doctor encouraged that its a good thing because overweight formula-fed babies may be a concern.

Maybe now the home machine is spoilt? but mummy is worried especially since Ah Gong and Ah Ma also commented my face don't look as chubby as before. so she called up SBCC to check with the nurse. She was asked about my milk intake and she said sometimes I fussed so much I only take 50ml, but on good days I can finish the 140/150ml EBM she prepared. After listening to what the nurse say, she decided to increase my milk to 160ml x 3 a day. She told Ah Gong Ah Ma have to make sure I takes all 3 bottles before she reaches home, even if I don't finish all. Its lucky mummy always pumped more than what I take so increasing the amount is not a problem to her. The only problem is whether I will drink it. Poor Ah Ma and Ah Gong, who always have trouble making me drink.

2 days later - Mummy is esctatic! I finished the 160ml 2 out of 3 times in a day! I am a growing baby hehehe! When she weighed me and find my weight hovering around 7kg she panicked a bit less.

Jovann is 4mths old

18 January 2007

Its been 4 months since the little bundle arrived in TMC and joined us. How he has grown and how we have grown as parents too. He can hold a conversation with us now with his baby gurgles and squeals, can hold his toys and put them to his mouth, can support himself on his tummy for quite a while looking around, can look up at me adoringly sometimes when nursing him. its amazing how a little red wrinkled newborn has progressed to be a little notti boy with his own personality, moods and tanthrums.

A few days before he is 4months old, he started sleeping through the night! that means his bedtime routine starts at 9.30pm. he falls asleep usually by 10.30 latest 11pm, then wakes up after 6am! We were elated, but were careful not to be overly confident as we know sometimes babies schedule changes without warning. But we were secretly and quietly gleeful and grateful for the few more hours of sleep. He used to wake up once about 3plus/4plus am.

That day of his 4mths, I wore for him his gold anklet that his ma ma and gong gong bought for him (the one ah ma and ah gong bought is still too big). When he woke up, hubby and I sang a birthday song for him and ah ma ah gong wore new clothes for him after bathing him at their place. I took morning leave and spent some time with him before heading to Kiddy Palace to buy his new year bedsheets. :)

Happy Four Months Jovann!

Me and My pretty cousins!

I have 2 cousins waiting for me when I was borned. My big zeh zeh cousin is Shauna, a vivacious little girl with impish pretty looks and so cheeky and talkative! I love her so much because she always say I look.... ah-hem...so handsome! but of course.......hehehehe!

My other zeh zeh cousin was borned 36 days before me, and her name is Kieira. She has a rather firm neck now, unlike me who's little head is still bobbing precariously when held upright, but much to daddy mummy's amusement i still prefer this position since 6 weeks old because I can see the world better. I can't wait to be able to sit up myself! then I can finally play "who-can-throw-the-food-furthest" game!

First Time in the Ergo

Mummy has purchased an ergo carrier for Daddy to carry me in during long shopping trips so that her shoulders won't break from carrying the 7kg me in the sarong sling. We have collected the carrier from Auntie June (who reccommended it to Mummy) more than a month back and it was sitting on the floor until today when Daddy decided my neck is firm enough for a try in the ergo. he was mighty excited, and re-watch the Ergo instructional dvd again just to familiarise with the steps and how to secure me safely in. After some fumbles, initial awkwardness (on Daddy's part) and noisy complaining (on my part) while daddy groped frantically behind him to find the buckle, I am finally in the ergo! and hey, this feels snug. Daddy practised a few times until he is quite an expert now...... eerrr....are you, Daddy?

I sat in it for a long time with my arms outstretched around Daddy's ample infront (tummy). Mmmmmm.......nice cushion..... Daddy say now he has to sacrifice and eat more so that I have a soft pillow to lean on in the Ergo. Ha!

My head dissappeared for a moment when Daddy tried out the hood on me.

Okie, think I have enough already....Let Me out!

Naked on Tummy

Mummy says I always look good naked, and she couldn't resist taking photos of me naked on tummy after my bath on Saturday. She has given me a nice massage using the organic baby lotion she bought from Camden Medical's pharmaplus, which smells heeeeaaavenly. I was happy and relaxed, so relaxed I was drooling at the camera...

New Clothes!

11 Jan Mummy managed to find a nice outfit for me to wear on the 1st day of CNY. In fact, she has already thought out what I should wear for the first 3 days of CNY, the shoes that go with each and what I should wear to sleep on the eve of CNY. Gosh! Daddy said if I had been a girl baby Mummy would have gone crazy what with the galore of pink dresses, bows, hairclips and tiny skirts and tops available. As it is, I already have more clothes than I can wear, and I guess I will only wear each of them once as I am growing so fast.

When we reached home today, Mummy pestered Daddy to open the letter box though their hands were laden with bags and little me, as she has a shrewd idea that my new tippy toe socks she ordered for me since more than a month ago has already arrived in our mail. and she's right! This caused her to bounce up and down in happiness in the lift on the way up, with me in her arms.

Fun on the Playmat

You seem to like your playmat from the first time we put you down on it. To the "sanba group" of aunties and uncles, your money spent on the "di lum" is not in vain! Thanks so much!

Your PD visit and a scare

4 Jan, went for your 2nd 5in1 jab and pneumoccocal prevnar vacinnation.

Statistics :
Wt 6.9kg
length 62.5cm
head circumference 42.6cm!! :)

We took advice from some and gave you a little bit of infant panadol before going into the doctor's office, because we wish to prevent you from having fever. Mummy only give you 0.4ml though I know your weight requires 0.6ml, but as its a prevention (or so I thought) I wanted to feed only minimal amount since its still medication. When the jabs were administered, you cried out in mummy's arms, but quiet down within a few seconds. brave boy!

We have brought along the infant thermometer and panadol to Ah Gong Ah Ma's place, and left strict instructions to monitor your temperature regularly as I had needed to go back to work. Mummy went off to get some necessities for you then were on the way to work when Ah Gong gave me a call on my hp, saying you had kept waking up and fussing and not sleeping well though you were obviously sleepy. and your hands and feet were cold. I was worried and called up another peadiatrician's office (your PD was not reachable) and the nurse immediately asked if I had given you panadol. When she knew I did she told me I shldn't have as if the child was not having fever to begin with, he may become hypothermic. That information scared me out so much, and i immediately phoned up gong gong to wrap you up, off the aircon and keep your warm by carrying you. I quickly took a cab and rushed back, calling daddy on the way. I was so worried and I was crying on the phone, saying I shldn't have fed the panadol at all though some ppl do it. I had wanted to feed you paosheng or ling yang but didn't dare to as your daddy is very overly-reactive to such cooling herbs and we don't know if you will react similarly. I regret so much now, and was so angry with myself. I fear losing you so much, I willed the cab to go faster. Think the cab driver overheard what I said on the phone and he literally flew back to bukit panjang. I jumped out of the cab without collecting my change and rushed upstairs to see you. You were already quietly gazing at Ah Gong and snug in his arms. You seemed fine and your hands and feet already feels warm. ah gong and ah ma said you calmed down once your hands and feet went back to being warm. what a sigh of relief when I saw you are okie, and I quickly latched you on to give you comfort and you closed your eyes and drank. Thank God you are okie.

Daddy reached home too and said he got our PD on the phone and he said many parents give panadol and its okie. The cold hands and feet could be coz you had some tummy pains which got better once you poo-ed, which seems to be true as you had just poo-ed when I carried you. I was angry at myself still, and also angry at the PD for even suggesting I shld have fed 0.6ml instead due to body weight. I do not wish to imagine what may or may not happen if I had done that.

Next jab, going to feed a bit of herbs to you, no more panadol dear.

Auntie Hanzi's Wedding

Mummy's secondary school kaki Auntie Li'an has gotten married recently! Mummy woke me up early in the morning around 6am just so she can be there in the morning ceremony at Auntie Li'an's house. She put me in the sling and I slept throughout the morning's boisterous activities, giving the false impression to the other aunties that I am very well-behaved *EVIL GRIN*. At the solemnisation that evening, Mummy love how Auntie Li'an looked in the lovely dress with her straight long hair, so sexy *Whistle*. When the groom came over and talked to me, I determinedly grabbed the red packet that he was holding out to me! Auntie Miang felt sure Mummy must have trained me to grab anything RED in preparation for the CNY. As Daddy was busy entertaining me so that I will not scream during the vows exchange, he did not take any photos of the bride and groom! But don't think they mind as there are already 5 or 6 photographers present. Mummy cried when the bride teared during her vows exchange, it was so touching. Again, during dinner, Mummy Daddy amused themselves with passing me back and forth from Daddy's lap to Mummy's lap and back, taking photos of me, just coz I look so darn cute in the denim jumper Uncle Steve gave me *I knew I was irresistable*. Mummy is waiting for Auntie Li'an to send her the nice wedding photos, which she will post here soon. Auntie Li'an said she is close to tearing her hair from waiting.

Yeah, finally, Auntie Hanzi sent mummy the photos taken that night.

How Jovann Sleeps

Before I give birth to you, I read that mothers often can spend hours standing at their baby's cot watching them sleep. I could not imagine how adorable a sleeping baby can be until we met you. You have no idea how many times we stood there gazing at you, the innocent look on your face as you drift into dreamland. In the initial period, you startled a lot as a newborn, and we put the beansprout pillow on you to try to calm you down. you look adorable when you move your mouth in your sleep as if you are drinking dream milk, frown in your sleep as if something irks you, smile in your sleep when you having sweet dreams. you tugged at our heartstrings when you whimper or cry in your sleep as we wonder if there's a monster chasing you.though I know I have to put you down once you are asleep, many times I had to struggle to let go the peacefully sleeping bundle in my arms as its such a sweet feeling to have you sleeping in arms.Sleep, baby angel...

you even do it sitting up

That first lesson, I was just in a daze, confused what all the singing and dancing is all about. But Mummy seemed to enjoy it. The 2nd and 3rd lesson however, I caught on pretty fast, and hey! dancing is fun! so is the massage. I met Cayden gor gor too, and here's a pic of us exhausted after the playgroup.

I was awake throughout but I didn't make a peep and was pretty well behaved considering how I usually am. Even Mama praised me! Actually the secret is Daddy Mummy made sure I sleep enough that afternoon hahaha.

That's me in Ma ma's lap and squealing at Gong Gong.

When I was in Mummy's tummy

Mummy just showed me today the few scrapbook pages she did when she was pregnant with me. Hey, I didn't know I was so tiny then, its amazing how I have grown. From that little shapeless bunch of cells in the sac till a complete baby with 10 fingers and 10 toes. Wowww.... I am amazed, so excited when I saw the pages.
